Recognizing the importance of nursing quality in providing medical treatment, he second President of Kuang Tien General Hospital, Dr. Yu Lin Wang, desired to establish a system of practical education with the purpose of training qualified nurses. Dr. Wang worked closely with the Ministry of Education and founded Hung Kuang Junior College of Nursing on July 7, 1967 and served as president of the institution until 1987. In November of 1987, the present of Kuang Tien General Hospital, Dr. Nai Phon Wang, MD, served as the second president of Hung Kuang Junior College of Nursing.The school soon expanded into a four-year college of nursing by 1997 and flourished as a result of the hard work and dedication of the students, faculty, and administration.In 2003, Hung Kuang became a university with fourteen departments and three graduate programs. Currently, there are a total 18 Colleges and 8 Research Institutes in Hung Kuang University, including Medicine & Nursing, Humanities Social Sciences, Human Ecology, Management, Engineering and General Colleges. In order to combine theory and practice, Hung Kuang offers internship courses as well as various projects and programs collaborating with the industry. Hung Kuang offers their students hands on learning opportunities by establishing their own Aging Care Hospital, Day Care Center, Internship Hotel, Restaurant and Beauty Salon.
