Thromboembolism, a clot within blood vessels, is also associated and aggravated by sedentary lifestyle and diet with high in fat, salt and sugar.
Incidence of stroke is not limited only to the elderly. Recently, a 19year-old male student fainted in the shower and was rushed to Kuang Tien General Hospital. He was found to have facial and left body paralysis and Dr. Yu Hui Lin immediately diagnosed him with a stroke. Past medical history indicated that the patient spent long hours sitting in front of the computer and frequently eated fast food. However, he was treated with Thrombolytic, drug used to dissolve blood clots, within the golden 3 hour period and showed improvement within 24 hours and was discharged after 7 days without remarkable complications and sequela.
