Kuang Tien’s Thoracic Surgery Department has treated countless patients in the Central West Coast of Taiwan since its establishment in 1986. The department is experienced in diagnosing and treating diseases in the respiratory tract, lungs, pleura, and esophagus. The department continuously improves its equipment in order to provide the best care possible. New equipment such as a Video Assisted Thoracoscopy (VAT) and the Richard Wolf Mediastinoscopy help the team with diagnosing thoracic tumors and minimally invasive surgeries. The team’s has had excellent surgical outcomes such as a high survival rate for lung cancer and high survival rate for esophageal cancer.
Clinical Services
1. Chest trauma-Emergency treatment of fractures of the ribs, lung contusions,pneumothorax, hemothorax, ruptured diaphragm, chest puncture 2. Treatment for foreign bodies of the esophagus and trachea, chemical wound and burn. 3. Pulmonary surgery-such as tumor, infection, abscess, emphysema, blisters, pulmonary embolism 4. Esophageal surgery-such as the esophagus, corrosive injury (pesticides), congenital lesions of the esophagus 5. Mediastinoscopy check and surgery-suited to weak lung function, patients with infectious diseases, especially for those who have pneumothorax or emphysemas
