Kuang Tien General Hospital was the first to establish a Psychiatry Department in the Central West Coast of Taiwan, specializing in Insomnia, Pressure Management, Neurasthenia, Smoking Cessation and Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition, the Psychiatric Day Care Ward in the Da-Jia branch was established with specialists including psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers to provide psychosomatic patients the most comprehensive treatment services. Group therapy is one of the characteristics of the psychiatric treatment which gathers patients who have similar conditions. The acute psychiatric ward is the only unit in the Central West Coast of Taiwan that provides 24 hour care tailored to patients’ different diseases, offering the most appropriate medical and psychological treatments.In the future, the Psychiatry Department will set up different kinds of group treatment and special clinics, allowing patients to receive comprehensive treatment through physician assessment, short-term medication therapy, and relaxation technique education, or psychotherapy.
