Geriatrics Medicine

Overview

    The Geriatrics Medicine Department is dedicated to providing comprehensive
   diagnosis and treatment for elderly patients. The comprehensive services
    include:
    1. One stop specialty consultation by Geriatric physicians offering
         consultation for nutrition, body pain or emotion problems. Referrals can
         be made if further specialist consultation or treatment is needed.
    2. Comprehensive aging assessment, recommendations, and treatment
       for common symptoms including functional decline, lack of energy,
         lack of appetite, falling, and dizziness.
    3. Integration of prescribed medications which prevents from the side
       effects of taking duplicate medications.
    4. A comprehensive, long term elderly care system: Kuang Tien nursing
        home, dementia care center, and day care center.

Clinical Services

    1. Consultation, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care for various
        common diseases of the elderly.
    2. Health promotion and health prevention- such as elderly health
         examination and community health education.
    3. Comprehensive evaluation for physical, mental, social and functional
        status.
    4. Hospice care and the family health visiting.
    5. The long-term medical care for chronic wards and nursing home at
        Kuang Tien General Hospital Evergreen branch.
    6. Community health services, volunteer clinic and health promotion.
