"Hungkuang Institute of Technology" has officially been approved to change its name to "Hungkuang University."

  • 1MonthShalu General Hospital and the Dajia Division passed the evaluation for merger by the Department of Health, becoming the largest "Regional Teaching Hospital" in the coastal area. In the same year, the affiliated "Hungkuang Nursing College" was upgraded to "Hungkuang Institute of Technology," fostering ongoing collaboration between the school and the hospital.

  • 1MonthIn the early days, the coastal area had a low standard of living; therefore, the friendly service, effective medical care, and reasonable charges at Kuang Tien General Hospital have garnered public recognition, leading to its steady growth. After the completion of the new nine-story medical building, the number of beds has increased to 230.

  • 1MonthRecognizing the severe shortage of nursing personnel in Taiwan, Director Wang Yulin independently established the first women's nursing vocational school in Central Taiwan, "Hungkuang Nursing College," which has become a cradle for nurturing nursing talents in Taiwan and a significant contribution to the development of healthcare in the country.

  • 1MonthThe first X-ray machine in the coastal area was introduced, followed by the introduction of the cobalt-60 therapy machine in 1964, and the hospital expanded to a comprehensive facility with a capacity of 50 beds, increasingly growing in scale.
1953
  • 1MonthIn addition to introducing the latest equipment, Kuang Tien General Hospital also hired several physicians from National Taiwan University Hospital to enhance the professional capabilities of medical staff and improve healthcare quality. As a result, the hospital earned the nickname "Little NTU" during that time.
1948
  • 1MonthAfter the war, the original outpatient department added three beds and began admitting inpatients. By 1948, a ward was constructed, increasing the number of beds to 15, gradually forming the prototype of a hospital.
1944
  • 1MonthFeeling the lack of medical resources in the coastal area of Central Taiwan, Director Wang Yulin resolutely resigned from his position as an attending physician at National Taipei University and returned home to take on the significant responsibility as the second hospital director. He also founded one of the top surgical practices in the central region.
1941
  • 1MonthDue to the surname change campaign initiated by the Japanese colonial government, Director Wang Tongzhong changed his surname from "Wang" to "Kuang Tien," and "Yangzhen Hospital" was renamed "Kuang Tien Hospital." The image shows the early exterior of the hospital.
1921
  • 1MonthDirector Wang Tongzhong, along with several other physicians, helped establish "Bo'ai Hospital" in Xiamen before returning to Shalu in 1921 to found "Yangzhen Hospital," dedicating his medical skills to the local community. He also served as the school physician for Shalu Public School.
1913
  • 1MonthDuring the Japanese colonial period, after graduating from Taiwan Governor-General Medical School (now National Taiwan University College of Medicine), Kuang Tien General Hospital’s founder, Director Wang Tongzhong, returned to his hometown and established "Ren Sheng Hospital" to apply his knowledge and serve the local community.
