Procedure for Visiting the Emergency Room ER
1. Emergency Medical Process Flowchart

2. Triage Classification
- The nurse will inquire about the patient’s condition, measure body weight, blood pressure, and other vital signs to determine the appropriate category.
- The order of medical consultations and treatment is based on the severity of the patient’s condition, not the order of registration.
3. Registration at the counter
- For National Health Insurance patients, please bring your ID card and health insurance IC card for registration.
- If you forgot to bring your NHI card, you must register and pay as a self-paid patient. You can apply for a refund within 10 days by bringing your NHI card and ID.
4. Enter the consultation room
- If further examinations are needed, the medical staff will arrange them for you.
- If a consultation with doctors from other departments is required, the attending doctor will contact them, and the patient should wait at the same place.
5. Doctor's decision after consultation After consultation, the doctor will make the following decisions:
- If your condition can be controlled with medication at home, the medical staff will assist you in completing discharge procedures, and you may request relevant educational pamphlets as needed.
- If your condition is unstable but does not require hospitalization or if beds are full, you will remain in the emergency department for observation, with regular treatment and monitoring by the medical staff.
- If hospitalization is required, the doctor will issue an admission permit. Your family will settle the emergency room fees and complete the admission process. You will then be escorted to the ward
6. Emergency co-payment
Emergency co-payment is NT$400.
7. Payment at the counter
- If you are self-paid or do not have your NHI card, please pay as a self-paid patient.
- If you are an NHI patient and used drugs or materials not covered by insurance, you must pay for them.
- If you need to apply for a refund, please bring the original receipt, NHI card, and ID card to the registration counter within 10 days
8. Prescription pickup
After clearing the payment, please bring the receipt and prescription to the pharmacy to collect your medication.
9. Departure
- If your condition worsens after returning home, contact the emergency room, and bring the patient back for treatment.
- If the patient is already deceased upon arrival, and the doctor cannot determine the cause of death, a death certificate cannot be issued. The family should report to the nearest police station for assistance, and the medical examiner will issue a death certificate based on the autopsy results.
10. Notes
Smoking is prohibited in the hospital, both indoors and outdoors.
